David and Barbara Hawgood at Loryma - Lycian coast Turkey 2008
At Loryma a Grecian fortress along the top of a narrow peninsula guards the large harbour. In 394 BC
the harbour sheltered the Athenian fleet before a battle at Knidos. A century later after the death of Alexander the Great,
in the conflicts for succession between his generals, 200 warships assembled here before an unsuccessful siege of
Rhodes.
